About Acts of Kindness

Our Mission

At Act of Kindness Group, we believe in the power of compassion and community. Our mission is to create positive attitudes through acts of kindness.

Thank you for your interest in the Acts of Kindness Group. My objective for this group is to spread positivity through acts of kindness.

I have always admired individuals with wealth who decided to help others rather than live in giant mansions with fancy cars and boats. A good example is the late Paul Newman and his wife Joanne Woodward. They lived a somewhat simple life in Westport CT and decided to help others such as the camp for critically ill children called the Hole in the Wall Gang in northeastern CT (as well as other worthy causes). Since I don’t have that wealth, I decided to try a different approach. Help others with a random act of kindness. So I started the Acts of Kindness Group (AKG).

Whenever I perform an act of kindness, I try to provide them with a business card asking that they “pay it forward” by encouraging them to perform an act of kindness to someone else. For me, this results in a positive feeling of helping others as I hope others would help me. Hopefully they will feel the same way.

The business card provides an email address and this website making it clear that they will NEVER be asked for any type cash payment. If they have an interest in helping others, they will request additional cards mailed to them and hopefully will hand out to other recipients of an act of kindness. My goal is to mail out hundreds of business cards to future members of the AKG. To request business cards, please send email wth your mailing address to RobD.AKG@gmail.com. Also, if you know of someone who might be interested please advise on their mail address.

Here are five examples of acts of kindness:

· Allow someone to skip past you at a checkout line including a person with young children

· Open the door for someone whose hands are full

· Help someone struggling to enter or exit a vehicle

· Purchase a drink (coffee/tea/soda) for person in line

· Leave a generous tip for a restaurant server

In conclusion, every time you choose kindness, you are not just making a difference; you are planting the seeds for a kinder world. You are showing someone that they matter.

I’m looking forward to mailing lots and lots of AKG cards.

Thank you. – Rob Douglas, Founder
